What exactly is Comedy Lab?

Comedy Lab is a crowdfunded residency that provides comedians with free access to Humdinger’s co-working space to create their next funny project!

Humdinger membership provided as part of the Comedy Lab residency program gives comedians access to our professional podcast studios, rehearsal room, meeting space and discounted sound stage access.. These facilities give creators the space and resources they need for writing their next comedy show, launching their new podcast, or developing a web series.

Comedy Lab aims to break down barriers and offer practical support for comedians, including performers, writers, and directors, to elevate their content.

We try to make the application process as quick and easy as possible. We encourage them to provide support material where possible, to strengthen their application, but this is not mandatory.

Will recipients receive money?

Comedy Lab is not a cash grant. We provide in-kind support via access to our studio and resources.

What kind of support does this program provide to artists?

Who is behind the program?

Humdinger is a certified social enterprise whose purpose is to support emerging and diverse Australian comedians by providing access to our professional facilities and award-winning production team. Our goal is to break down barriers, support new talent, and make Australian comedy more varied and inclusive. Applications will be assessed by a panel independent to the Humdinger team.
